KUNSTENPLATFORM PLAN B

First day in Noeveren

In the morning, we visit Noeveren. There we see old factory chimneys that look like ancient towers rising above the town. The colour of the village is brick red, and its unusual appearance attracts us. We find a few places where people gather, which seem to have sprung up spontaneously here and there. Here, a few chairs and a small table are enough to create a communal space. We decide to use these places as observation points and get to know the local population and the rhythm of the place. We see this as a place that carries stories from the past.

Walking through Noeveren, we start to follow arrows marked on the walls with spray paint. We walk past deserted places and accidentally stumble upon a motorcycle club called The Unicorns. Here we meet the first person who will prove essential to the further course of our story. We have a conversation with The Unicorns and suggest cooking for them one of the coming days. They are slightly confused by our proposal, but they are open to it and we make an appointment for next Saturday.

In the evening, we sleep in another garden. To reach it, we have to walk past an island full of birds. The birds are singing loudly, as they have been doing for the past few days. Making a fire proves difficult, as we have no more wood and can only find wet wood, but we manage it! In the morning, we are woken early by a loud fight between two neighbouring roosters.

Inés and Michela use food and our food culture as an artistic medium, thereby questioning our social and physical environment. Equipped with nothing more than a portable oven and some kitchen utensils, they use Stone Soup to spark conversations, with the preparation of a dish serving as a bonding agent.
