Searching a location: Trip Niel, North Island Nature Reserve & Rupelmonde
Trip to Niel, Northern Island Nature Reserve and Rupelmonde (50 minutes by bicycle from Antwerp). Water junction between the Scheldt, the Rupel and the Sea Canal.
The Northern Island Nature Reserve is a meeting place for various bird species, some of which travel along the river. There are some nice edible plants along the cycle path next to the Rupel. The nature reserve around Niel is protected against forest fires, so it is probably not possible to cook there. There is a nice outdoor area next to the Rupelmonde tindalmolen that might be suitable as a meeting or cooking place.
Inés and Michela use food and our food culture as an artistic medium, thereby questioning our social and physical environment. Equipped with nothing more than a portable oven and some kitchen utensils, they use Stone Soup to spark conversations, with the preparation of a dish serving as a bonding agent.
