H.O.T. - The heat made me Swalm *

Constructlab is a global collaborative network that breaks down traditional boundaries within art and architecture. With a focus on collaboration – both internally and with the community – they undertake a wide range of projects, both permanent and temporary.

During Kunst & Zwalm, the first prototype of the mobile architecture Hospitality on Wheels** was built and exhibited. This nomadic living and working space forms the basis for H.O.T. – a moving, performative tea installation. It is inspired by the Zwalm, a river whose name refers to the vapour or dizziness of flowing water. Here, tea was harvested, brewed and served – in a space where time is allowed to brew, settle and linger. Constructlab switched between the roles of guest and host, translating its research into tangible interventions.

* Swalm, Middle Dutch for dizziness or light-headedness, as when fainting.
** Hospitality on Wheels (H.O.W.) is a long-term research project that translates their research into mobile hospitality into a tangible, deployable structure.
