Farmer's psalm
The performance Boerenpsalm (Farmers' Psalm) is a roundelay, a composition of voices from the agricultural sector. Conversations take place at a long table between farmers and policymakers, theatre makers and seed breeders. They point at each other and talk about a sector that is becoming increasingly stifled, caught between eternal growth and the limits of the earth.
Martha Balthazar went out in search of the ploughman, the organic inspector, the Minister of Agriculture, the legacy of Cyriel Buysse and the history of hunger. Together with Mats Vandroogenbroeck, Barbara T'Jonck and Jana De Kockere, she ploughed through thirty hours of interviews. They compose these voices into a new story, a modern farming drama.
