Myvillages

Tattoo Station Zwalm

Myvillages was founded as an artist-run collective to challenge the cultural dominance of the urban by focusing attention on the rural. For Kunst & Zwalm 2025, Myvillages consisted of artists Ida Bomm, Niel de Vries, Jaron Vandevelde and Wapke Feenstra. They were advised by local experts Vincent Decroock and Evert Goossenaerts.

What is it like to live in, around and under the ground of Zwalm? Which plants and fish found a home here and what is rare but fortunately still occurs? Myvillages provided a glimpse of the biodiversity and geological identity of this piece of living greenery. To do this, they drew the fauna and flora of Zwalm and used this as a basis for designing tattoos. Their mobile Tattoo Station Zwalm covered the banks of the Zwalm, with stories about what lives there and a range of stick-on tattoos. They like to get close to visitors, which is why, during the last weekend, you could have your favourite temporary image immortalised on your body.
