THE CHRONICLES OF BEKEGEM / FREEK & ANNA BRIEF YOU
Inspired by Bekegem's hidden past and visible present, Freek and Anna wrote a number of short narratives during their residency week. Using various fictional characters, these chronicles recounted the history of the village. In this 'ensemblage', they interwove powerful texts and research, which could be read along the route.
During the festival, Freek and Anna could be found at their writing station, where visitors could request a personal letter.
BIO
Anna Carlier (born 1994, Belgium) and Freek Mariën (born 1988, Belgium) are theatre makers and writers. Both studied Drama at KASK Ghent. Together with her company Compagnie de Kolifokkers, Anna creates theatre with a strong magical-realistic edge. Freek, in turn, creates performances for young people and adults with the theatre company Het Kwartier, focusing on powerful texts, a solid content basis and unconventional forms or themes.
