Ciel Grommen
PRESENT
In her transdisciplinary practice, Ciel plays with elements from the visual arts and architecture. In her research, she does not maintain a critical distance, but instead engages with the community or place where she is staying (whether for a long period or not). In this way, she creates new frameworks for encounters through various art forms.
BIO
Ciel Grommen (born 1989, Belgium) has a background in architecture (KU Leuven) and contemporary art (Master's degree from HEAD, Geneva, Switzerland). Her work has been exhibited at Artsonje Art Centre (Seoul, South Korea), Live In Your Head Gallery (Geneva, Switzerland) and Zolder Luchtfabriek (Heusden-Zolder, Belgium). But the Aldi car park in Borgloon and the asylum centre in Petit Chateau (Brussels) also became her temporary workplaces. She has also worked freelance for Z33 (Hasselt), Bozar (Brussels) and for artist Ief Spincemaille and sculptors/taxidermists Dirk Claessen & Hedwig Snoeckx, among others.
