Filip Anthonissen
WHEN IS THEN?
I have been travelling for so long that I forgot where I was going.
When is it then? brings together various video projects in which Filip seeks to confront the real and virtual worlds. With these non-places, he crystallises time, which becomes very recognisable precisely because of their anonymity. An abandoned restaurant, a remote car park or a party that has died down: the fragments carry a certain melancholy, allowing him to make his viewer lose their way, be carried away or, on the contrary, wait.
Filip says he spends most of his time behind the computer, creating virtual spaces. He prefers to show his work as an installation, in which the digital images enter into dialogue with the real world.
BIO
Filip Anthonissen (born 1991, Belgium) studied animated film at KASK Ghent, although he finds that training rather misleading for his work. He previously had a solo exhibition at Gouvernement (Ghent), and his work was shown at the Mayday Mayday Festival at CAMPO (Ghent).
