Inca Garnica

7 DAYS 7 PLACES 7 COLOURS

During her residency, Inca visited seven residents of Bekegem, each living at a different house number 7 in the village. Their living rooms subsequently became the backdrop, but also the subject, of her film. In each of these homes, she attempted to capture the space on video using the same technique. These seven different fragments came together in a single installation in a narrow cove.

BIO

After studying Creative Arts Therapy (Utrecht University of Applied Sciences) and Mixed Media (LUCA Ghent), Inca Garnica (°1990, B) completed a Master's degree in Installation and Performance at the ERG Ecole Superieur Des Arts (Brussels). In her practice, Inca uses both her personality and her body to engage with the space around her. This results in a spontaneous energy, largely detached from meanings and theories, in which everyday objects, time and physical forces, as well as the urban and rural landscape, are strongly present. She gives shape to these diverse themes through interventions, actions, video and performance. In addition to various exhibitions in Belgium, her work has also been shown abroad in France, Finland and the Netherlands.
