Vaal (B) was founded in 2016 and is the musical project of Timo Bonneure (°1989, synths), Arjen Verswijvelt (°1988, vocals) and Jelle Wulleman (°1990, guitar, saxophone). The trio has already played at Different Class (Ghent), The Sound of the Belgian Underground (Ancienne Belgique, Brussels), the Beursschouwburg (Brussels) and Theater aan Zee (Ostend).

Vaal prefers to describe their sound as 'emptiness of crushing intensity', and has been described as a 'contemporary eighties revival full of abandon' (4AD). Grim soundscapes combined with Dutch lyrics – from parlando to screaming – provide a musical translation of Flemish greyness. Although the themes initially convey transience and resentment, Vaal soothes with lyrics and melody. Expect a dark, intriguing atmosphere reminiscent of cold wave, krautrock and ambient.
