Photo report project presentations Fieldwork III at La Bellone, Brussels
On 23 October 2024, arts platform PLAN B and Cifas presented the projects that took place as part of Veldwerk III. At La Bellone in Brussels, Nina de Vroome, Barbara T'Jonck, Tim Theo Deceuninck, May Abnet and Ánima O. Cassamajor brought their research to life in words and images.
FIELDWORK
With Fieldwork, arts platform PLAN B supported a group of artists/collectives in a long-term research project in rural areas over three editions. For Fieldwork III, these were Nina de Vroome, Barbara T'Jonck, Tim Theo Deceuninck, May Abnet and Ánima O. Cassamajor. They set to work in an old mining village, took a critical look at the idea of a collective rural community, explored how the landscape can become a photographer, gave a new meaning to 'the valley' as a meaningful place to think about information technology, and wondered how we can bring nature to the city and the city to nature – with a focus on people who have less access to this due to systemic oppression.
PROJECT PRESENTATIONS
This process was also concluded with an insight into the research processes. The artists each created a record in the form of a poster, leaflet, publication, etc. During the project presentations, they brought these to life through a mini-exhibition, performances, and readings; a colourful collection of research questions for a (re)imagination of rural space.
Arts platform PLAN B collaborated with the Brussels-based organisation Cifas, a place for learning and experimentation in the performing arts in the city and its surrounding areas.
