KUNSTENPLATFORM PLAN B

Publication Fieldwork I

In March 2020, just before the start of the first lockdown, the first edition of Veldwerk was launched. After an eventful year, we are now presenting a publication in which we showcase the eight research projects that received support. Eight

artists/collectives participated in this collective research project outside the city: Inés Ballesteros & Michela Dal Brollo, Pim Cornelussen, Ciel Grommen & Maximiliaan Royakkers, Max Pairon, Sibran Sampers, Maxime Vancoillie, Maite Vanhellemont and Bert Villa. For a year, each of them explored non-urban space in their own way as a carrier of meaning; as a breeding ground for a practice that is connected to its environment, its inhabitants and the themes that live there.

After extensive documentation on the website, we are now also bringing these projects together in a publication. To document and open them up, but also to reflect on them. What do these processes share and how do they differ? How do promising contemporary artists approach artistic research outside the city? Not as a definitive retrospective or static interpretative framework, but as one possible perspective on the complex diversity of the eight projects. Unfortunately

, the publication itself is no longer in stock. However, you can browse the digital version here

With the support of Cera, the Flemish Government, and the Dutch Embassy in Belgium.
