Guusje America

The father of filmmaker Guusje America digitises audiovisual material, bringing old memories back to life. He also cares for his mother, Guusje's grandmother. Although father and daughter grew apart over the years, their shared interest in film techniques and their past on VHS tapes seems to bridge the gap. In front of the camera, you can see how a broken relationship is mended in Video Home System (2018).

This film was screened during the PLAN B 2018 Arts Festival together with What Devious Cunts We Are by Aay Liparoto. Both films focus on the interpersonal relationships of the filmmakers themselves. With the living room as a highly individual setting and dialect as a binding agent, these films open up a dialogue on sensitive subjects.
