Marta Galmozzi
A series of billboards throughout Bekegem; white canvases, each filled in by a different artist. These billboards were placed one month before the actual festival weekend and thus also served as an announcement.
The chaos of the city and the impossibility of making the moment last forever inspired Marta in the creation of her billboard. Using the remnants of posters, she attempts to reconstruct a faded image and moment.
BIO
After studying painting at the Italian Accademia di Belli Arti G. Carrara, Marta Galmozzi (born 1991, Italy) completed her master's degree in Photography at KASK Antwerp in 2018. In her practice, Marta typically creates idiosyncratic, life-size collages. In this way, she develops a distinctive absurd style, inspired by surrealism and the nonsense of the Dadaists. The human figure, as well as everyday objects and images, are usually taken out of their usual context and brought back into space in an alienated way. Her images thus become installations, in which she plays off the two-dimensionality of photography against the three-dimensionality of sculpture.
