DEARLY DIALOGUES
Oshin Albrecht and Melissa Mabesoone kept in touch through correspondence. One lived in New York, the other in Bekegem. Through text and images, they bridged the gap between places that are both physically and symbolically far apart. This created a dialogue between the village and the metropolis. Could this exchange lead to an overlap? Letters and other material that emerged during the dialogue are presented in various forms in Bekegem.
Since 2012, Oshin and Melissa have been working under the banner of neighbours on a universe that cannot be confined to a single medium. The duo navigates themes such as femininity, community, living, sexuality, work, pop music and neoliberal fantasies. The boundary between reality and dream is played with in work that is constantly changing form.
