Joris De Rycke

Ruderalia

The daily life of artist-botanist Joris De Rycke consists of constantly travelling between natural, urban and wasteland areas. Along the way, he collects things. These include physical objects (driftwood, seeds, stones, fossils and discarded items) as well as memories, cartographies of wild flora, and documentation of these in photographs and film. Together, this forms a workable humus from which images, projects, ideas and new journeys emerge. For Veldwerk, Joris made a film that documents the interactions between plants, animals, objects and people in various places between city, agriculture and industry.
